OE ver6
My problem is that OE6 will not allow me to open attached
files. I recently ran a MS Security Update CDROM (Feb2004) which claims to be OK for all Windows since 98. My computer uses ME. The update replaced OE ver5.5 with ver6. I had no problems with 5.5. MS not interested in helping as it is an OEM-installed ME (when are they going to get over that nonsense?) Any help welcomed! |

OE ver6
in helping as it is an OEM-installed ME (when are they
going to get over that nonsense?) When the OEMs pay the same price as the rest of us to buy the operating system. OEM's pay considerably less than other customers, one of the reasons being that they contract with Microsoft to provide full support to the customers to which they sell the system. My problem is that OE6 will not allow me to open attached files. To access attachments in Outlook Express: Tools | Options | Security and UNcheck the box "Do Not allow attachments to be saved or opened that could potentially be a virus". If you do decide to uncheck this option PLEASE don't forget to scan for viruses and other nasties ALL of your attachments irrespective of whether sent from a friend or not before making any attempt to open or run them. It is users failure to carry out such simple precautions that allows viruses such as Swen & MyDoom to spread so quickly. --?
