X-Setup Pro is a free program that allows you to extensively tweak Windows.
It's been a couple of years since I used it, but it's easy to use. However, I just installed X-Setup and I believe it will pinpoint the location of the offensive wallpaper. Download X-Setup here. http://www.x-setup.net/ When you open X-Setup, choose Classic mode. Select Appearance, Desktop, Wallpaper. On the right side of the screen, it should show you the directory of the offensive wallpaper. You can then navigate to that directory and remove it. Then use X-Setup to set the default Windows wallpaper or the wallpaper of your choice. Joe "Lowell Copeland" wrote in message ... Okay, guys, I will try it again. Joe, I thought I was looking for bitmap files, not system files so when I did not find the *.bmp file, I proceeded no further. I will start by getting the irfanview graphic program and proceed from there. Sorry about my frustration. Lowell snip |

Okay, I will give it a try. The irfanview was not able to locate the file. I
looked at so many graphics I was going blind, and still did not find it. I went through Windows, Windows/System and Windows/System32 and could not locate it.. I will try x-Setup .. thanks Lowell "Joe727" wrote: X-Setup Pro is a free program that allows you to extensively tweak Windows. It's been a couple of years since I used it, but it's easy to use. It took a bit of digging, but if X-Setup Pro does not pinpoint the location
of the wallpaper the registry will. Click Start, Run and type regedit and click okay. Click + next to Current User and navigate to [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop] The Wallpaper registry key should display something like this on the right hand side of your screen: "Wallpaper"="E:\\98SE Special XP Wallpaper\\Windows 98 Plus Second Edition Background 2a.bmp" That is where the offensive wallpaper will be. Navigate to that directory and delete it. Joe "Lowell Copeland" wrote in message ... Okay, I will give it a try. The irfanview was not able to locate the file.
