emm386 error @9
When I start the computer after the bios self-test, it
goes into the windows 98 screen for about 5 seconds then a message displays: EMM386 detected error #9 in an application at memory address 69BC:003C. To minimize the chance of data loss, EMM386 has halted your computer. For more information, consult your documentation. To restart your computer, Press Enter. Memory tests show memory is good. SpinRite shows harddisk is good. Any Ideas? Thanks, Duane |

How was the memory tested? A software test does not necessarily preclude problem
RAM. Have you tried swapping out the RAM modules, or if you have more than one installed, removing all but one (or one pair if SIMMs), and swapping out with each other to attempt to isolate a potentially bad stick? Does it boot successfully into Safe Mode, and does the memory test during the Safe Mode boot detect "unreliable" memory? Are all the RAM modules the same? You might want to have a look he http://www.kisser.net.au/tontodan/Emm386.html scroll down to "VI. EMM386 ERROR MESSAGES" at the bottom, for some clues. -- Glen Ventura, MS MVP W95/98 Systems http://dts-l.org/goodpost.htm "Duane" wrote in message ...
