Default Error: could not locate inf file

Since installation of updates from automatic Microsoft Security
Updates when I open one of the a user account (my wife, my children,
and I have different user accounts) I get this message on the screen.

At the top of the prompt it says- Advanced INF Install

ERROR: could not locate INF file 'C:Windows\inf\GETPUSo.INF'

Can you tell me what this means and how to repair it?

I believe that this problem has nothing to do with any update you might
have received from Microsoft. Assuming, a big if I know, that you missed
out an L from the message and meant to type GETPLUSo.INF then this is part
of the GetPlus download manager which is I believe used by Adobe although
there are many reports of a similarly named file being associated with
malware. I would suggest that you check your system for malware using
your preferred AV and spyware scanners ensuring that you are using their
most recent signatures.

What I suspect may have happened is that you have already scanned your
system and the file getpluso.inf was considered to be potentially
malicious and removed or quarantined whilst leaving the entry used to
launch this file still present in the registry. If my guess is correct
then you should be able to use MSConfig (Start | Run, enter MSConfig in
the box and click OK.) Look on the Startup tab and look for an entry that
contains something like the following:
getPlusUninstall_ocx
rundll32.exe advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection C:\WINDOWS\inf\GETPLUSo.INF,
DefaultUninstall
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\RunOnce
If/when located uncheck this startup item and reboot. You will be
informed that you are running in selective startup mode or similar, just
check the box to acknowledge and not be informed again.
