Loading win98se without the authorization code

I upgraded my Windows 95 with Windows 98se several years
ago. I had to restore the maindrive back to Win 95
because of a virus but I lost the Win 98 capability. I
still have the disk for Win 98 but in a move by my
daughter, I cannot find the original setup book with the
authorization code--it is lost. How can I re-install Win
98 without knowing the code? Unfortunately, I didn't
keep it anywhere in case this happened so I have no idea
what it is. I tried contacting Microsoft support but
will get charged $35.

Geez man, that's been one of MS's "hopes" all along. Same happens to all
those folks get OEM systems with OS pre-installed and don't know enough to
realize just how important that alpha-numeric sequence on that sticker is.

Note pre-XP Windows doesn't have "activation" so surely you have some local
"friend" you can go visit?
