Default Fatal Exception Errors

I have several different blue screen fatal exception
errors that have suddenly started to appear. I am not in
any particular program, nor do they seem to happen at a
particular time. I have checked the Support sites that
were offered (this is my second posting), but can not seem
to find the exact error messages. As I do not know what my
error messages mean, and what is causing them, I can not
begin to try and correct the problem. I sure would
appreciate any help. The error messages are listed below.
Additionally, my OS is Windows 98 SE.
Thanks.

Default Fatal Exception Errors

Zeros, huh? Well as I said, I am no genius when it comes
to this sort of thing. Thanks though.
As for the error messages below, they are pretty much in
order as they happened. They are all on a blue screen, and
there is no option to get the details (as in Invalid Page
Fault errors). As yet, no program name has been mentioned.
Again, as I have no idea what is causing these errors (and
which ones are forbidding), I am at a loss to find a
starting point to try and correct them. I am not sure that
I even have enough computer "savvy" to fix them, even if
someone tells me what the cause is. I am, however, willing
to learn. All of the sites you mentioned below have been
visited by me at least twice. As there are no exact
matches, I am afraid to try the solutions mentioned, for
fear of making the matter worse. Has anybody ever had any
of these exact same Fatal Errors, or am I just "lucky".
Appreciate your responses.

Default Fatal Exception Errors

Which is the first one to happen, & when does it happen? Is it always
the same one first? Well, perhaps begin with a clean up of your Startup
Group...

First pick one of these to identify what loads at boot. Next, see
whether there is an option in it's menus to disable it from starting up.
If you really want to rid yourself of it on a more permanent basis, then
look for it in "Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs". However, it isn't
often easy to know what is what in there. One of these URL's may say.
Only last, go to StartUpCop.

Default Fatal Exception Errors

The errors happen intermittently. The first one to happen
was "Fatal Exception OE at 0028:C004754B in VxD VFAT (01)
+ 00005573". Since then, that error has been replaced by
the others, in the order that they are listed below. As
for when it happens, there is no specifics. I have
received "Fatal Exception OE at 0028:C00051EF in VxD VMM
(01) + 000041EF. This was called from 0028:C0015BD5 in VxD
VMM (01) + 000014BD5" when the computer is sitting idle.
It drives me crazy, as I never know when an error will
raise it's ugly head! Maybe I need a new computer!! I will
check the Startup Group and see if a cleanup will help.
Thanks for your input, and again, I appreciate your
responses.

Default Fatal Exception Errors

You are welcome. The VFAT error is ominous, as that pertains to the
Windows file system. Best thing, really, to do FIRST would be a backup

| Which is the first one to happen, & when does it happen?
| Is it always

|
| First pick one of these to identify what loads at boot.

Default Fatal Exception Errors

Mars' Rover to PCR...over.
Some of those errors I have had and pertained to hardware
problems. First off I would go into bios and raise the Bus
*Latency Timer* to the next higher value. Or maybe two.
This would,at least, give each process more time at the
transfer buss before something else takes it over.
It's like at an intersection of two streets. If you do
not give the first car time to completely cross before you
cross? What may happen? This is not a full fledged fix.
But may relieve processes on the bus to get other things
straightened out.
I have had one machine that would do error after error.
Ten or twelve before you could get it to finally load
desktop. Just a thorough cleaning of the MB and everything
else cured it. But that involved pulling the machine apart
completely and giving everything an alcohol bath and time
to dry. Once it was reassmbled. It booted just fine with
no errors.
I am not disputing anything you say. Just putting my 2
cents in. It's kind of lonely here on Mars.

Default Fatal Exception Errors

Ah, ha-- Mars! Anyway, what you say has logic to it, that slowing the
boot could make a difference. But there is no such setting in my BIOS, &
I know nothing of it. Would it work only for a problem during boot, or
would it have a lasting effect? If it works, then is there still a
problem, as you say "This is not a full fledged fix."? Perhaps the HDD
is not spinning up quick enough, then, or something.

It booted just fine with
| no errors.

Hmmmm, an alcohol bath! Again, I just don't know anything about it,
except un/re-plugging certainly... can... uh, occasionally prove
effective!

| | | I have several different blue screen fatal

exception

Mars' Rover to PCR...over.
Some of those errors I have had and pertained to

hardware
problems. First off I would go into bios and raise the

Bus
*Latency Timer* to the next higher value. Or maybe two.
This would,at least, give each process more time at the
transfer buss before something else takes it over.
It's like at an intersection of two streets. If you do
not give the first car time to completely cross before

you
cross? What may happen? This is not a full fledged fix.
But may relieve processes on the bus to get other things
straightened out.
I have had one machine that would do error after error.
Ten or twelve before you could get it to finally load
desktop. Just a thorough cleaning of the MB and

everything
else cured it. But that involved pulling the machine

apart
completely and giving everything an alcohol bath and time
to dry. Once it was reassmbled. It booted just fine with
no errors.
I am not disputing anything you say. Just putting my 2
cents in. It's kind of lonely here on Mars.

You are welcome. The VFAT error is ominous, as that

pertains to the
Windows file system. Best thing, really, to do FIRST

would be a backup
of essentials at least.

| The errors happen intermittently. The first one to

happen
| was "Fatal Exception OE at 0028:C004754B in VxD VFAT

(01)
| + 00005573". Since then, that error has been replaced

by

| Which is the first one to happen, & when does it

| Is it always
| the same one first? Well, perhaps begin with a clean

up

| Group...
|
| First pick one of these to identify what loads at

boot.
| Next, see

| If you really want to rid yourself of it on a more
| permanent basis, then
| look for it in "Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs".
| However, it isn't
| often easy to know what is what in there. One of these
| URL's may say.
| Only last, go to StartUpCop.

| | Zeros, huh? Well as I said, I am no genius when it

comes
| | to this sort of thing. Thanks though.
| | As for the error messages below, they are pretty

much in
| | order as they happened. They are all on a blue

screen,
| and
| | there is no option to get the details (as in Invalid
| Page
| | Fault errors). As yet, no program name has been

| | Again, as I have no idea what is causing these

errors
| (and

| | starting point to try and correct them. I am not

sure
| that
| | I even have enough computer "savvy" to fix them,

even if

| willing
| | to learn. All of the sites you mentioned below have

been
| | visited by me at least twice. As there are no exact

mentioned,
for
| | fear of making the matter worse. Has anybody ever

had

just "lucky".
