Mdocuments has moved?
This is a copy of a thread in Dec i could not keep up to due to holidays and
illness, if you can help? thanks Hi I apparentl had happy fingers, and i have My Docements folder messed up. I can retrieve it but it is listed inside another folder and sub folders. The desktop folder has nothing in it, How do i clear my mess up so its cllean? Can i post a jpeg or something to show you how it's organized or "disorganized"? Thanks -- I AM A CHEESEHEAD AND A BADGER! ======== Use Windows Explorer to move the items back where they belong. Posting images or other binaries is frowned upon in these groups. Perhaps you can draw a treeview picture like this: My Computer | + 3.5" Floppy [A] - [C:] | + Multimedia + Program Files - Windows | - All Users + Application Data and so forth. -- Glen Ventura, MS MVP W95/98 Systems http://dts-l.org/goodpost.htm "shortstop643" wrote in message news Hi -------------------------------- Thanks Here's how it looks- C:\My Documents\My Pictures\Kodak Pictures c\/my documents -my documents -filelib -mydocuments -kodak pictures (there is nothing in any of these) --------------------------------------------------------- C:\december 2004 -has folder- my pictures C:\december 2004\My Pictures --has folder kodak pictures and folder kids, plus some jpegs C:\december 2004\My Pictures\kids\My Pictures has my documents folder- and contents of my documents C:\december 2004\My Pictures\kids\My Pictures\My Documents has all my documents folders "shortstop643" wrote: -- ======= I'd like to say I understand your explanation, but I don't. :-) I cannot tell where you My Documents folder is, from your description. I have not been able to do any support work today, and have only just now gotten a chance to even look at the email, and it is past 11 PM. You seem to have a bit of a mess there, with multiple "My Documents" and "My Pictures" folders, some inside each other like a puzzle. For the most part, you simply need to move the folders and files around, but since My Documents is a "special" folder as far as Windows is concerned, we need to determine where you registered personal folders are, so as to find which "My Documents" folders are superfluous. What would help would be to see the contents of this Registry key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curre ntVersion\Explorer\Shell Folders Click Start Run, copy and paste this line into the box, and click OK: regedit /e c:\windows\desktop\folders.txt "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Explorer\Shell Folders" That is all one line, with a space between regedit and /e, and between folders.txt and the "keyname" It will create a text file named folders.txt on your desktop. Send me the text file, or copy/paste the contents of it into the body of an email, or into a reply to this post. -- Glen Ventura, MS MVP W95/98 Systems http://dts-l.org/goodpost.htm "shortstop643" wrote in message ... glee- Not knowing fully who sees what as moderators, did you get the jpegs i emailed yesterday that you asked me to do?
