I think PCR may be right...
My XP Home editions' chkdsk.exe - autochk.exe won't work on bootup !
The Recovery console won't install ! (recovery consosle is NOT installed by deafult with XP home - and even when installed is only partially functional i.e. automated recovery is unavialable). ...but, seeing as it won't install anyway I don't have to worry about that do I ! Norton SystemWorks, when installed into XP ......most of the "Works...huh!...vanish / do not appear" (features and tools / utilities etc. they're simply not there !) ...obviously Norton is afraid to tackle anything NTFS ! It's becoming more and more clear to me that I may need to reinstall and get XP Home ed. sat on a FAT32 partition, so that all my old FAT32 based utilities work ...should I need to tinker with my hard disks. regards, Richard |
