Msgsrv32 error message
I am attempting to install a new Buslink USB 2.0 CD-ROM
drive to a notebook running WIN98. After a couple of false starts, Buslink finally emailed a driver that was recognized upon installation, and the drive appears to be installed successfully. However, if the drive is connected upon start up, Windows freezes at the initial Windows screen, and will not load. If I connect the drive after the computer has completed booting up, the hourglass appears and the computer freezes. Task manager displays the message "Msgsrv32 - not responding." Disconnecting the drive immediately restores the computer to operation. Device manager does not show any conflicts. The drive is fine: I successfully connected it to a computer running XP. That computer immediately recognized and installed the drive without problem. Buslink has no fresh ideas on how to resolve an apparent conflict. I would be grateful for any suggestions. |
