Default Install Internet Explorer 6

I've tried installing explorer 6 from the update site and a CD with no
success. After downloading, the installation ends by listing the files that
could not be installed, which in this case is just about every explorere
file, including the browser, etc. Any help is most appreciated, because
without internet 6 I can't use certain email options, etc. from my DSL
provider.

Tim,

For the "unable to install all components" issue with WinME and IE6SP1, try this:

Go to My Computer - Tools - Folder Options - View:
- Select "Show hidden files and folders", click Apply - OK

Create a folder named "Old uninstall".

Go to folder C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\Uninstall Information.

Now Edit - Select All - Cut all files.

Open "Old uninstall" folder and paste the files.

You will now be able to install all the troublesome components.

If everything works as expected, you can delete the "Old Uninstall" folder
and the files you moved.

Good luck,

Zee

I did reinstall ME, but I did it after the attempt to install IE 6 seemed to
trigger a system crash type scenario.

Oh gawd!!
This could be fun!
Such symptoms are frequently the result of mistakenly attempting to
reinstall ME over itself without first reverting back to IE5.5 - the
resulting 'Version Soup' is almost impossible to repair, and the only sure
way known is to completely remove IE and then reinstall whichever version
you require.

Instructions for this process are here
http://www.crashfixpc.com/ReInIE.htm

Please post back if you need more details - preferably before attempting the
process!!g
