Default spyware

I keep getting a window popping up that says that its from
Windows. It says spyware has been detected and I can
click OK or cancel. Clicking OK sends me to a spyware
company trying to sell me a product. I don't want it.
Clicking on cancel turns it off only temorarily. I feel
like I'm being held captive by this company. Nowhere can
I find a place to tell this company to leave my computer
alone! Obviously there is a setting someplace. Can
anyone help me remove this from the computer? It won't
even let me turn off the system without closing it down by
way of the conrol+alt+delete function!

I do not need to be online. It seems to be on the
computer now. The window is titled "Windows Error" and
the message says "Windows detected Spyware on your
computer. Download free Spyware Remover." The first time
I saw this I clicked OK and was taken to a window that
lead me to check the computer. Then a list of all the
spyware and adaware was listed. When I clicked "remove" I
was led to a window that required me to pay $29.99 for a
program download. I decided no and cannot get rid of this
so called error message!

Windows does no such detection - ever! (at least not in ME)
You may have a virus/spyware hijack

download the Stinger from here and run it to make sure that A-V-disabling
viruses are not present on your PC
http://download.nai.com/products/mca...rt/stinger.exe

- update your virus scanner and run a full system scan of all files.

Reboot to Safe Mode and run CWShredder - to remove variants of the
CoolWebSearch hijacker.

Use CWShredder, the removal tool:

http://www.merijn.org/files/CWShredder.exe
http://www.spywareinfo.com/downloads...CWShredder.exe

download AdAware from www.lavasoftusa.com, install, update, and run it to
remove spyware, adware,
and other such nasties from your system.
