Default clearly off topic - are new? settings for Live/Hotmail required

I have waited a few weeks to see if perhaps this was another glitch on
the service but it has not cleared.

I have reviewed what little information I have found on the subject,
which appears to not be very recent; I have also looked at the proposed
"new" Hotmail/Live to be offered documents [again, at least what I have
found]. The issue arose when changing the password for the account via
the web access and attempting to use a standard reader [Thunderbird in
this instance] after applying the new password. Sending via the password
modified account is not affected, receiving fails when attempting
authorization [though the web interface takes and uses the new password].

The question is whether there are new settings required for accessing
Hotmail/Live mail accounts [pop3]?

Or are they being converted to IMAP?

Or are non-Microsoft product using users now being affected by internal
changes at Microsoft?

Anyone have any answers [beyond getting rid of the account(s)] or know
of others with similar issues?

Thanks Pa, checked all those issues, in my instance I have used port
995 or 587 for sending [SMTP server settings], which apparently works of
course, since this will be posted and the MSNews postings uses that
server [Hotmail/Live] and its settings [as configurable in T-Bird].

I should note I also tried the settings needed for OL users [the actual
{Live ID}.hotmail.com and port settings] but that also does not work.
Also tried that ID with various attempts using the other "standards".

I guess the next is to completely remove the old account unless someone
has further, and create a new one [though that might kill sending, so I
have avoided that test].

You are *not* using the Hotmail/Live server when posting to MS newsgroups
via an NNTP newsreader.

That being said, yes, I'd try deleting the Hotmail (POP3) account from
Tbird, rebooting, and then creating it anew.

Tip: Make sure you've Allowed cookies for live.com (domain).

Interesting ? This post was marked "Message not available" accessing the
