Default Whiskers

How much do all you experts know about whiskers on electronic circuitry?
This is not a joke.
If any want to know? Ask.

Thanks or Good Luck,
There may be humor in this post, and,
Naturally, you will not sue,

Maybe poatt was referring to a crystal detector?

Or tiny filaments that sometimes develop on the surface of electronic
circuits coated with tin or zinc. The filaments sometimes cause failures
in the elctronics when they form shorts between conductors.

Appears to have affected satilites, at least two models of missles,
fighter jet radar and reactor monitoring equipment (false low coolant
pressure "reading" shut a reactor down).

Apparently a problem with SOME floor tiles used with the raised floors
in some data centers too. The whiskers form on the zinc plated bottom of
the tiles, get knocked off, are blown around by the air conditioning and
short the equipment out.
