Default have to reinstall vid adapter driver upon each reboot???

first a multi-colored screen and automatic page movement
[don't ask--but it was addressed here last week...]--now,
in order to retain my color scheme and resolution
settings, i have to reinstall the video adapter driver
upon each reboot in order to rid myself of the 640x480 16-
color nasties. why does the install not last?? any
ideas?? thanks a lot--i've come to depend on this group
here lately...

Start up in Safe Mode and remove any/all instances of the video =
adapter. Safe Mode will show duplicates and any one of them could be =
corrupt or cause problems where as normal mode won't show them. Reboot =
and reinstall.

No backup needed. Just make sure you have the proper drivers for any =
devices you will need to reinstall after removing them in Safe Mode. =
Leave the System devices alone. If windows reinstalls them and not you =
from a disk supplied with the device, the next thing to do would be to =
go to the device manufacturers support site and download/install updated =
drivers per their instructions.

i will certainly try the suggested procedure, as i am
still having to reinstall each time. the weird thing is,
sometimes it shows 'builing driver database', but usually
does not--it just shows progress of driver installation.

well, here goes nothing...
