Default need locations for drivers on 98se install cd

I need to re-install drivers for the floppy drive
controller, IR port controller, and PCMICA controller.
Unfortunately, I don't have the option of using my 98se
cd directly on the computer. I need to find the
individual files and copy them to the hard drive. Is
there a specific place I can go to find the files I need?

Why can you not use the CD?

I'm trying to repair a toshiba libretto 50ct. (It doesn't
have a cdrom.) I would like to use another computer to
access the 98se cd, and then copy the files to the
libretto via floppy (in dos mode)

Didn't you say the floppy wasn't working? I guess there

might be a way
to get your files through Network Neighborhood, but it's

a thing I know
little/nothing of.

The funny thing is... the floppy works in dos mode, or
when booting (I can use a boot disk with it). It just
stops working once windows loads. Anyhow, I did find the
drivers in the cab files (Base5 and Base6 specifically).
I must admit... out of several help groups and forums I
went to... you were the only one who actually knew where
to go. Everyone else had no clue. So... thanks.

You are welcome. Ah, that's right, DOS uses different drivers! That
proves the floppy drive does work, but the Windows 32-bit drivers need
to be reloaded. So...

Boot to Safe Mode (Hold F5 or Ctrl as you boot), &...

(1) "Control Panel, System, Device Manager tab"
(2) Open the "Floppy disk controllers" branch.

If there are more than one controller in this branch, you may have
a "ghost". Therefore, delete them all, & reboot to Normal Mode. Point it
to the folder that contains your .cabs, if asked.

But, if there is already just one driver there, then...

(3) D-Clk the controller that appears under it for Properties.
(Mine is "Standard floppy disk controller".)
(4) At the Driver tab, click the "Update Driver" button.
(5) Click the "Next" button.
(6) Bolt "Display a list of drivers...", & click "Next".
(7) Bolt "Show all hardware".

Examine the screen. Mine is "Standard", but I have four other
choices there. Do you? As one clicks them in the left "Manufacturers"
pane, descriptive info shows up in the right "Models" pane. Perhaps,
state what you see. It could be worthwhile to go to another and back to
the original just to shake things up. To switch, select one, & click
"Next".

(Soon, I must myself switch to the Compaq controller there. I wonder
when it was I mussed that!)
