The crazy thing is this computer and printer have worked together for three years, and this problem only just arose. I have however recently installed Norton System Works 2004. I'm wondering if this is somehow screwing up the registry or something. I'm tempted to remove the Norton stuff and see if that's where the problem is. It's a real pain. I'm grateful for any ideas. When I return to normal mode i get a spooling error which keeps happening and stops me printing. I have uninstalled the printer then reinstalled it repeatedly using both the cd installation disk and a downloaded driver from Epson. Both work, but only in safe mode. Can anybody suggest what might be going wrong? what exact error message are you recieving ? Rick . My experience with this error message is that the spool directory is missing, corrupt or incorrectly set, this is the information I received from Epson regarding the spool directory. Your spool directory may have become corrupt OR could be full. Follow the steps below to create and change your spool folder. Create a new folder on your computer: 1. Double-click the "My Computer" icon on your desktop. 2. Double-click the icon for your C: drive. 3. Click on "FILE" "NEW" "FOLDER". 4. Type in the name: "espool" press ENTER. 5. Close all Windows. Change the spool folder: 1. Click on "START" "PROGRAMS" "EPSON" "SPOOL MANAGER" (if not listed skip to not listed section below). 2. Make sure that the Epson printer is highlighted. 3. Click on "OPTIONS" "DEFAULT SPOOL DIRECTORY". 4. Double-click on the yellow folder next to "C:". 5. Scroll the list of folders until we find the folder "espool". Double-click on it and click on "OK". 6. Make sure the Epson printer is highlighted. 7. Click on "QUEUE" "SETUP" and verify that the Spool Directory is now "C:\espool". 8. Place an "X" where it says "Use Print Manager For this Port" and click "OK". 9. Exit the Spool Manager. Epson Spool Manager Not listed: 1. Click on "START" "FIND" "FILES OR FOLDERS". 2. In the "NAMED" field type in "epsp" and Double-click on the application (it will have an .exe extension) 3. Proceed with step 2 of changing the spool folder above. |
