SanDisk Cruzer Micro USB Flash Drive
Hello,
I bought this subject flash drive because the price was right and it was something I wanted to store pictures on. The back of the package says that it is for Operating System(s) 2000 and XP, although the SanDisk website says it is for Windows Me as well. Has anyone here had experience using this device? If I can't use it I can make a Christmas present of it to someone in my family. Thanks, Ken Bland |

SanDisk Cruzer Micro USB Flash Drive
Ken, FWIW, I have a SanDisk Cruzer *Mini* Flash Drive - amongst a number of
assorted 'flash or 'pen' drives - which I use between XP and WinMe machines without any particular issues either on USB 1.x or USB 2.0. I had no trouble installing it (them!) on either OS and IIRC there were some software utilities supplied on the SanDisk drive which *may* have included WinMe drivers (Can't remember as I deleted the utils, as they are available on their web site.) SanDisk Cruzer Micro USB Flash Drive - adendum
Ken, on further reflection, drivers are only required for Win98SE. WinMe has
its own drivers and auto-detects flash/pen drives - although their behaviour is slightly different (eject/remove procedure) compared to when connected to XP. Mart "Mart" wrote in message ... SanDisk Cruzer Micro USB Flash Drive
The drive itself should work under WindowsMe just fine, but the U3 software
that comes on it may not be WinMe compatible - which I consider a Good Thing. ;-) -- Richard G. Harper [MVP Shell/User] * NEW! SanDisk Cruzer Micro USB Flash Drive
Thanks to you, Richard, and to you, Mart.
While reading up about this particular drive on a "comments" board I came to the conclusion that a lot of people objected, and very strongly, to the U3 software. In fact, the U3 website now furnishes, albeit begrudgingly, a link (www.u3.com/uninstall) for deleting the software. (I say "begrudgingly" because the topmost caveat on the page says something like: "WAIT, are you sure you want to remove this helpful, etc., etc..." and doesn't provide the uninstall option until the very bottom. And I think it goes on to say that the feature cannot be reinstalled after removal.) I appreciate greatly your comments that I can safely use this flash drive on my Millennium machine. Ken Bland |

SanDisk Cruzer Micro USB Flash Drive
I recently purchased a Memorex 1 GB, U3 Smart, USB 2.0 "travel" drive (for
$US 20.00) and it works fine on two WinME machines here, moving 35 MB of Quicken files between machines. Very fast. I have not used the U3 featu http://www.u3.com/ -- Jack E.
