Default What can I upgrade to?

I have windows 98 on a hewlett packard pavillion 6710, 15 Gb hard drive,
which operating systems can I upgrade to?

The memory is 64Mb SDRAM(Max 512 MB) - 11MB shared video. What I would like
to do is upgrade the computer so that I can use mobile broadband. I would be
grateful if anyone could help. Thank you.

If you increase the computer's memory to at least 256 MB (512 MB is
much better), you can upgrade to Windows XP.

You see - this is why win-9x got a bad rap during 1996 - 2002. It was
handicapped by being installed in PC's with crappy hardware specs.

Yea, win-98 will run like a dog with 64 mb ram.

So the standard response - install XP on it. And oh, by the way,
increase the ram while your at it.

Well guess what - increase the ram and see how win-98 runs.

You won't be able to "buy" a "legit" copy of XP (with a corresponding
license) any more. If you buy one on e-bay, you have no garantee that
the product key is still legit and will be accepted by Microsoft during
installation (Genuine Activation).

In my experience, Windows 98 runs fine with 64 MB or even 32 MB.

XP will "run like a dog" with less than 256 MB, and it's pretty slow
with 256 MB.

Fully "legit" Windows XP upgrades are available from Newegg, Amazon,
Buy.com, Office Depot, etc.
