Show pop-up description for folder and desktop items
checked in Windoes Explorer Folder Options and all
registry settings are correct, but they show only for
WinZip files. Has anyone exerienced this please?

I have a slightly dfferent problem than yours. I
installed all the Microsoft updates and installed other
utilities. the funny thing is that windows explorer will
not show the items in DETAIL mode, only shown in large
tiles, icons, and list.

BJ -

If you run SpywareGuard (by Javacool) it will disable the "tooltips" when
SpywareGuard is running in the background. This is on a W98se system, and
this has been my experience. Otherwise, I have no further idea at this time.
Good luck.

Thanks, but have made no changes to spyware program -
using PestPatrol. Seems to date from upgrading WinZip.
Thanks anyway.

Guess that's worse than my problem. My problem seems to
have followed updating IE6 {service pack] and or WinZip.
Best of luck.

While in Explorer in Details View, click the right pane. Then, hold CTRL
as you press the plus sign (+) on the NUMERIC keypad. This will return
your columns to you. (To have them disappear again, just drag them over
each by the divider lines in the header.)

I took that WinZip free upgrade to v.9.0...
http://www.winzip.com/
...., which went well, & my Tooltips appear to be fine.

Not every Icon on the Desktop will have one. "My Computer" ("Displays
the contents of your computer", it says.), "My Documents", "Internet
Explorer", "Network Neighborhood" & the Recycle Bin all do, but one must
give the Desktop focus first, by clicking it once.
