Window in Danish (?)
I hope this is the right section to post this question to . . .
Somehow (I have NO idea how) the language on some of my windows (i.e., the window that appears when you press control/alt/delete) got changed to what looks like Danish (?). How do I change that back to English. It is not on everything. I mainly notice it on the "close program" control/alt/delete command. Thanks in advance. Candy --------- |

This usually happens when you install new software or a Windows Update in
the wrong language. Unfortunately there is no easy fix, wiping the system and reinstalling Windows is usually the only way to repair the damage. -- Richard G. What do you mean by "wiping the system"? Would I have to reformat
my hard drive or merely re-install Windows? I regularly update my Windows, but how in the world could it be installed in the wrong language when I only operate in English? The only new thing I can think of that I've installed is "ieSpell". Could that have done it? Again, I would only knowingly do it in English. Thanks for reading and answering my post. Thanks also for any future help you may be able to give. Candy --------- |

Either you got an update in Danish or some program (I don't know the one you
mentioned) you installed contained Danish files. You can either format the C: partition (you lose anything on the partition that is not backed up) or if you have room, you can install to a folder named other than Windows: How to Install Windows 98 Into a New Folder http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=193902 Once installed, you can delete the old Windows folder. Some info that you might find handy: For information on installing W98, go to: http://home.satx.rr.com/badour/html/w98_restore.html Information on reinstalling or upgrading with an OEM CD: http://home.satx.rr.com/badour/html/upgrade.html -- Regards Ron Badour, MS MVP for W98 Tips: http://home.satx.rr.com/badour Knowledge Base Info: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?pr=kbinfo "Candy" wrote in message ... I don't mean to be picky, but how would installing Windows into a new folder
help? Would not the "problem" still exist? I'm just trying to understand. Candy --------- "Ron Badour" wrote in message ... The system files are contained in the Windows folder. If you install the
system to (say) Win98, the system will then operate out of that folder and not the Windows folder where the problem resides. -- Regards Ron Badour, MS MVP for W98 Tips: http://home.satx.rr.com/badour Knowledge Base Info: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?pr=kbinfo "Candy" wrote in message ... O.K. then. If files that Windows98 needs to operate are still in the old
windows folder, how will they know how to communicate with each other? I'm just trying to understand what I will be doing before I do it. Don't want to screw up my computer any worse. Thanks.
