msvcrt missing after ie6 install--explorer won't load
I downloaded IE6 (SP1) to a Sony vaio running win 98. On
the restart after the install I received the following error message while loading explorer.exe: "The MSVCRT.dll file is linked to missing export NT DLL.dll: RtGetNTVersionNumbers." The computer will do the same in safe mode (of course). Booting to command prompt, I have looked for the DLL file and don't see it. Related question. I have tried to read from the CD drive in dos mode, but it fails on no label on volume. Should you be able to read a cd in dos mode or is something else going on here? Need help. I appreciate any assistance. Thanks, Bruce |

Regarding your CD problem, please refer that to a general discussion group
for your operating system. Regarding your msvcrt.dll and ntdll.dll error messages, that is generally caused by a mismatch of file versions between those two files. Check at the VAIO site for updated software/drivers/advice. -- _______________________________________ Hyperlinks used to ensure advice is current Sandi - Microsoft MVP since 1999 (IE/OE) http://inetexplorer.mvps.org wrote in message ... Should you be able to read a cd in dos mode or is something else DOS mode requires DOS CD drivers to enable CD drives, as used in your boot floppy's (unique) AUTOEXEC.BAT and CONFIG.SYS. You can copy the lines to DOSBOOT.BAT or anywhere else. -- Don Phillipson Carlsbad Springs (Ottawa, Canada) |
