Hi all,
When I use the search feature in IE 6, I am most of the time re directed to
some other search page, and it is not the page I opened from my search.
The correct page will be there for a second or 2, but then I am re directed
to a different search.
It is not the same one all the time, but different ones.
I did run hi jack this, spy bot search and destroy, but still the same , I
also did delete cookies, through IE and also manually, still no luck.
Any other good program I can run.
Thanks, Tony

Running Ad Aware seems to have fixed it, Thank You
Now On that link He says to................................

SHOW IT ALL! Be sure that Windows is set to show hidden and system files and
folders. In My Computer, at Tools | Folder Options | View, set Hidden files
and folder to “Show,” and un check Hide protected operating system files.
(In Windows Vista, find these in Computer at Organize | Folder & Search
Options | View.)

Am I supposed to set this like and leave it like this.?( I an assuming so.)
As I had always had it set to not show hidden and system files.
Thanks, Tony

Yes, leave Hidden files unhidden. The Protected Operating System files
refers to a setting in WinXP, not 98. I also strongly recommend NOT hiding
extensions of known filetypes. There are other things I recommend for that
panel (pretty much the opposite of the defaults), but I don't have 98 in
front of me, so I won't try to detail them.

Glad it all worked out. See ya later.

Hidden files are made that way to keep them out of sight of non-admin users
in a business setting, so they can't screw up system files. In such a
setting, the Folder Options aren't available either, or shouldn't be. They
also have other reasons for being Hidden, for instance to make it difficult
to accidentally move them. But frankly, I'm not certain of all the reasons
for the design. What ISN'T necessary is for the owner of a one-user system
not in a business setting to leave Hidden folders or files actually hidden
from view. Too convenient for nasties, malware, viruses, call them what you
will, and confusing when you want to see everything that's there for the
purposes of diagnostics. In general, it just makes things more confusing for
the user.

While hiding extensions can allow a bit more convenience, it too has the
effect of making it too easy for nasties. (Personally, I find hidden
extensions to be VERY inconvenient.) Consider: You wouldn't see the TXT part
of SAMPLE.TXT if extensions are hidden, you'd just see SAMPLE. But you
wouldn't be alarmed if you *did* see a file named SAMPLE.TXT. Well a nasty,
sent via email attachment for instance, can take advantage of this by naming
their executable SAMPLE.TXT.EXE You won't see the EXE part, just SAMPLE.TXT.
Looks harmless, right? But it's really an executable file, and as soon as
you double-click it, your system is toast.

All in all, we call these types of settings "idiot-proofing". Anyone who
isn't an idiot is much better off without them.
