Default resolution/colors

Just loaded Windows 98 0n a Compaq Armada 7800 laptop. Can
not change the resolution or colors by going to the
display, prperties/settings. It only has 2 color choices --
-2 or 16 and only one screen area of 640 X 480 pixels. Any
ideas. Thanks
