MS Photo Editor won't open .JPG
A computer that I had to reinstall Win98SE on will no longer open .JPGs in
MS Photoeditor. The file extension is correctly associated with Photoeditor and I have uninstalled and reinstalled Photoeditor a couple of times. Even opening Photoeditor FIRST and then trying to open the .JPG file gives me an "unknown file type" error. The .JPGs themselves are fine, and will open fine on other computers in Photoeditor. When I look at the file OPEN dialog in MS Photoeditor, the file types it lists do NOT include .JPG (i.e. it can open BMP, TIF etc). So something is obviously wrong in the registry somewhere that makes MS Photoeditor not understand .JPGs anymore. BTW, I am not interested in fixing this by using a different application to open the files, I want to make MS Photoeditor work like it did before. Thanks for any input on how to fix this. I have the same problem, but I am using Adobe PhotoShop as
well as MSPaint. I thought it was related to using Netscape Navigator because the problem appeared after I updated to the latest version. If you have any ideas about the fix please share.... -----Original Message----- A computer that I had to reinstall Win98SE on will no longer open .JPGs in MS Photoeditor. Hi Djuna,
MS Photo Editor is an older program that can be problematic. This is why other applications such as IrfanView are suggested as a replacement on these newsgroups. http://www.irfanview.com/ -- Regards, Bert Kinney [MS-MVP DTS] http://dts-l.org/ How to Configure Outlook Express for Internet News: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?kbid=171164 "Djuna" wrote I have the same problem, but I am using Adobe PhotoShop as well as MSPaint.
