Default Two problems with Windows 98

First problem:

Have an old copy of a Windows 98 upgrade. Cannot locate the product code.
Any "work-a-rounds??"

Second problem: (Installing upgrade my fix this second issue)

Re-formatted hard drive with commercial back-up disks. Only have two color
settings on monitor, and cannot adjust video resolution. Without this
option, cannot proceed onto internet. Monitor is a eMachine plug-and-play
which I assume means it does not need any additional drivers. Problem
appears to be in Operating System. Any suggestions??

Thanks in advance.
