Device driver developement?
I need the Window 98 DDK. I saw that it is available for download from
MSDN subscription. Is possible to purchase the Window 98 DDK alone without taking MSDN subscription. If it is let somebody tell me where. Thanks! |

Device driver developement?
The direct answer to your question is, "No."
The Win98 DDK is a legacy product. It is still available in MSDN Universal or Professional Editions, but no longer available as a separate item from WinHEC. However, WinHEC *does* currently offer two DDKs, one for Server 2003, and one called "Suite 3" for Win2K, WinXP and WinME. I suppose it's possible that the Windows ME portion *might* server your purpose(?) But probably not. http://www.microsoft.com/whdc/driver.../WhichDDK.mspx http://www.microsoft.com/whdc/devtools/ddk/ddkfaq.mspx You can't even get the documentation for the Win98 DDK in the online MSDN Library, only through an MSDN subscription which includes a couple of legacy editions, the pertinent one being that of Oct. 2001 (aka the pre-.NET version.) As for any "outside" solutions to your dilemma, you're on your own. I see a couple of possibilities based upon hits from Google, but I haven't followed through to see if they are still viable. In the most promising case, it's a well-known "pay to see the answer" forum. -- Gary S. Terhune MS MVP for Win9x "Me" x wrote in message ... I need the Window 98 DDK. Me x wrote in message ... Is it possible to develop device driver for window without using a DDK? Thanks! No. For the reasons why, go to a library or bookstore and read Chapter 5 of Karen Hazzah's book "Writing Windows Vxds and Device Drivers". |
