Monitor Resolution set too high, use safe mode to fix,now have only 16 colors
I am using Windows 98 4.10.1998 with an an old AST computer with SiS 6326 Rev C5 display adapter, software version 4.0. The resolution was set higher than the card could display by my sister in the control panel by accident to 1024x1024 and I had to go into safe mode to reset to 600 x 480. The problem is the menu doesn't allow any option but 16 colors. How can I get out of this mode of only i6 colors and back to 800x600, 256 colors that I was using before. Is my display adapter damaged? You help will be greatly appreciated.

The "normal" card options should then be available. But if you can't find an option better than 640*480*16 in normal mode, I can't suggest anything. HTH |

If you cannot get all the display options that your display adapter supports
in normal mode, then you need to install the correct drivers for the adapter. They may be available at the www site of the display adapter manufacturer, or they may be on a CD that was supplied with your machine or with your display adapter card. -- Jeff Richards MS MVP W95/W98 "John" wrote in message ...
