Display setting problem...
Hi, I'm just wondering if someone could tell me how to fix
my display setting. I've gone into display properties and the only screen area I can get is 640x480 and 16-colours. Whenever I try to change it some error comes up and tells me I don't have the adapter or something to do so, yet only a few days ago it was fine. It happened after I uninstalled some things on my computer to get more room and one of them was some file called mslagent which I have no idea what it is. Other than that all I uninstalled were a couple of games and now all the icons and windows are larger and the colours all messed up. Anyone help would be extremely appreciated. -Thanks |

Adware.Slagent is/was on your computer. Here's more info:
Adware.Slagent runs without user notification after initial installation and can download and execute arbitrary files on the computer. http://securityresponse.symantec.com...e.slagent.html Download and run SpyBot. http://security.kolla.de/ Also run a complete system virus scan with an up-to-date virus program. ********* As for your video problem: If you just reinstalled Windows, or you cannot change to 256, 16 bit, or 32 bit color, you probably need to reinstall your video card drivers. To reinstall your video card drivers, you need to know the exact make and model of your video card in order to install the correct/updated drivers. There are several ways to determine what kind of video card you have. 1. Check the manual that came with your PC. 2. You can open your PC tower to look at the video card and note the name and numbers printed on it. 3. You can download and run this program from MajorGeeks.com. It might be able to determine what kind of video card you have: AIDA32 - Enterprise System Information 3.93 http://www.majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=183 To find the Aida32 info you need to post, run the Aida32 program, and click the + sign next to Computer on the left side of your screen then click Summary. Then Right click the information on the *right* side of your screen and select Copy. You can then paste the information in Notepad or paste it directly to this newsgroup. Aida32 will tell you a lot about what's inside your PC. In addition to telling us the *Brand and Model Number* of your computer, please post back the information Aida32 reports for your: Motherboard CPU Chipset Display PCI/AGP Video Display GPU This information will assist us in finding the correct video drivers, and directing you to the video card manufacturer's website so you can download and install them. *** IMPORTANT *** Remember to tell us the *Brand and Model Number* of your computer which is printed on your PC case or is listed in the manual that came with your computer. Yes, you need to download the nVidia drivers from the nVidia site. If the
56.64 drivers don't work, you can try an older set of drivers. http://www.nvidia.com/object/win9x_archive.html Joe "Alex" wrote in message ... Hey thanks a lot for the help. Thanks for the help once again Joe but a did download the
drivers yet my computer keeps wanting me to put in some nVidia disc or something like that. I'll try downloading one of the older ones but I doubt it'd work. If it doesn't work I'll just send my comp to the computer store and pay someone else to do it. Thanks again. -----Original Message----- Yes, you need to download the nVidia drivers from the nVidia site. The "disk" (CD) is the folder where you downloaded the nVidia drivers to,
unless you are being instructed to insert the Windows 98 disk. In other words, if you put nVidia drivers in My Documents, when the installation process ask for the disk, then browse to the TweakUI folder in My Documents. Joe "Alex" wrote in message ... You're welcome and thanks for posting back to let us know the problem is
fixed. Joe P.S. In case someone else has the same problem, I am reposting the instructions because there was a minor typo: The "disk" (CD) is the folder where you downloaded the nVidia drivers to, unless you are being instructed to insert the Windows 98 disk. In other words, if you put nVidia drivers in My Documents, when the installation process ask for the disk, then browse to the nVidia folder in My Documents. "Alex" wrote in message ... YES it worked!
