Default Drivers

How can uninstall a driver ? (I installed some cell drivers yesterday, the
cell is not mine and without it
I cannot see it with device manager ).
If I restore to a preceding check point do I uninstall the driver ?
Thans a lot.

System Restore should do this for you. It will remove most if not all of
the unwanted driver's files and restore the registry to the state it was
in before you installed the driver.

Done ! The system seems working fine .
It will remove most if not all of the unwanted driver's files ........

Then some files could be still in the system ?

Yes if they have extensions that are not monitored by system restore such
as TXT, HTML, LOG and the like. Unlikely in the case of a driver but
possible. They won't be doing anything, just dead weight.

Thanks so much, I've found these two procedures below in the "read me"
file of the cell .
Are they also for WinMe ?

1.4.2.1 Reconfigure and use the Device Manager

==============================================
1. Windows must be configured to show "hidden devices" in the Device
Manager,
i.e. devices that is not currently attached to the host.

Choose Control Panel-Advanced-Environment variables-New. Add a new
user
variable:
DEVMGR_SHOW_NONPRESENT_DEVICES = 1

By setting this variable it will be possible to unistall devices via the
Device Manager. Choose Control Panel-System-Hardware-Device
Manager-View
and tick off "Show hidden devices" to activate the setting.

2. Right click on a device matching a driver that has been removed and
select
"Uninstall.."
3. Repeat 2 for all devices that have been using the removed drivers.

1.4.2.2 Use the Add/Remove Hardware Wizard

==========================================
1. Start Control Panel-System-Hardware-Add/Remove Hardware Wizard
2. Go through several steps for each device (e.g. WMC function instance) to
uninstall. Remember to tick off for "Show hidden devices" in order to
see
devices that is not currently attached to the host.
3. Repeat 2 for all devices that have been using the removed drivers.

Thanks a lot,regards.

Since I have no idea what is meant by "cell" here or what drivers it is
you are uninstalling, although system restore will have done that already
except for any trivial files included as part of the driver such as txt,
log or html files, I'm sorry but I'm unable to help further.

You can delete unwanted entries in the Device Manager (1.4.2.1) and this
is best done in Safe Mode. Doing this in Safe Mode removes the need for
any environment variable DEVMGR_SHOW_NONPRESENT_DEVICES. This does not
however normally delete any files but rather just removes the driver -
something you have already done and more by using system restore.

I don't understand 1.4.2.2 as Win Me does not (nor XP for that matter)
have a Add/Remove Hardware Wizard located at System | Hardware.
