Default Choosing Hardware Profiles in Windows ME

Three hardware profiles exist on Sony PCG-XG700 laptop running Windows ME:
Original Configuration, Docked and Undocked. Yet, when I boot up the PC I am
not ever prompted to choose a hardware profile to boot into so I am unable to
try different hardware profiles. How do I get the OS to give me that choice?

KBQ236963 in Microsoft help and support describes "How to Create Profiles
for Windows 95, Windows 98 and Windows NT 4.0" but not Windows ME.

There is no "Hardware profiles selection" dialog where I can tell the
computer to "wait until I select a hardware profile" or "select the first
profile... in xx seconds" like there is in Windows 2000. Also there is no
Properties button for the hardware profiles where I can choose to "always
include this profile as an option when windows starts" like there is in
Windows 2000.
