Default Missing Shelliconcache File

I noticed today that the desktop icons have been unstable and I checked and
there is no shelliconcache file in Windows. I've rebooted several times and
the file is not rebuilding itself.

Can I reinstall it from a cab file off the Win 98SE cd or is there another
method?

Don't use your Desktop shortcut to reboot.

Use the Start Button/Shut Down method.....

Hugh, I'd tried that with no success. The KB that Ron pointed me to worked.
Thanks for your input.

That suggests that ShellIconCache will not be regenerated
if the Max Cached Icons string value is too low
for your needs.
