Default cannot open folders on desktop, my computer nor my documents

I cannot open my computer, my documents, control panel nor
any folders on desktop...it says "explorer has caused an
error in unknown explorer will now shut down." what can
i do? i've scanned for viruses and such and i've tried
rebooting.
