Default Power Light On CPU

Hi:

I have a Toshiba desktop and everything was working fine and lost internet
connection. Rebooted and desktop screen came back, but cursor was locked in
the upper left hand portion of screen. Computer at this point was totally
locked up. I turned the power source for the computer off, as everything at
this point was locked up.

Upon turning the power source to the computer back on and hitting the
Power Button to turn on the computer the Green light comes on for a second
and then goes off. I can hear the fan and computer still running inside, but
cannot get desktop screen back or monitor to come back on. I have the
monitor turned on, but nothing is displayed.

I thought possibly the Power Supply had gone out, but then I can hear the
computer running, The Green light that comes on briefly when first turning
on the computer goes back out and I have nothing on the monitor. Have tried
turning the power source on and then the computer, but am getting the same
results each time as described above. Also have plugged power cord directly
into wall outlet and nothing appears.

Any help and/or recommendations will greatly be appreciated.

Thanks

Col Tom

Are you getting a Power On Self Test (POST) beep?? If so, is it a single
'beep' or different??
