Default ME installation disk files

Can anyone tell me where the explorer.exe file is located
on the Windows ME installation disk. When I do a search
of the cd, this file is not located, however it must be
there. I am assuming that the file is compressed or
zipped in another file with a different name. Does
anyone know where this file is so that I can copy it onto
a separate disk? Please help - thanks!

It's in the \win9x\WIN_16.CAB on the WinMe CD - and/or in the same cab on
your C:\ drive in the Windows\Options\Instal or CABS folder.

It is compressed so use msconfig.exe to extract it.

Can you elaborate on the "use msconfig.exe to extract
it". I have located the WIN_16.CAB file on the cd and it
appears as a zip file. If you can provide further detail
as to using the msconfig.exe, it would be greatly
appreciated.

Is it possible for me to just use winzip to decompress
the file and thus located the explorer.exe file?

Start | Run then type "msconfig" (no quotes) in the box and then OK it.
Then on the General tab, look for the File Extraction utility (I think it
*may* be under advanced - I don't have an ME PC to hand)

But yes, you should be able to use WinZip to open the CAB file and extract
(decompress) explorer.exe.
