error on startup
I have recently used windows update for ME, I can't remember the last time I
have updated, possibly years. When system starts up I get error 0028C02C99AD, it says hit enter to return to windows along with other options. Upon hitting enter and returning to windows all the icons and taskbar etc fail to show up. Just the screen saver appears. When I updated through ME update I downloaded 7 crtitcal updates. Any help would be appreciated, Hogger |

That error message is incomplete! - but it does give enough clues to perhaps
say that you need to reinstall/update your graphics drivers..... try this first Reboot to Safe Mode Open Device Manager Remove ALL Display Adapters Remove ALL Monitors Reboot to Normal Mode - Windows will reinstall the required drivers - hopefully curing your problem. If that fails, then post back with any error messages, or oddnesses seen in Device Manager -- Noel Paton (MS-MVP 2002-2006, Windows) Nil Carborundum Illegitemi http://www.crashfixpc.com/millsrpch.htm http://tinyurl.com/6oztj Please read http://dts-l.org/goodpost.htm on how to post messages to NG's "Hogger" wrote in message ... When rebooting it said windows is detecting any devices then error message came up. Thanks in advance if you are able to help Hogger |

You need to reinstall the drivers for the Video Adapter - go to the
manufacturer's website and get the latest version, and install them while in Safe Mode -- Noel Paton (MS-MVP 2002-2006, Windows) Nil Carborundum Illegitemi http://www.crashfixpc.com/millsrpch.htm http://tinyurl.com/6oztj Please read http://dts-l.org/goodpost.htm on how to post messages to NG's "Hogger" wrote in message news "Noel Paton" wrote: That error message is incomplete! - but it does give enough clues to perhaps say that you need to reinstall/update your graphics drivers..... try this first Reboot to Safe Mode Open Device Manager Remove ALL Display Adapters Remove ALL Monitors Reboot to Normal Mode - Windows will reinstall the required drivers - hopefully curing your problem.
