WinME profile problem
Just had a very weird thing happen to my WinME system, and I need help to
recover. I removed ZoneAlarm 6.0 in order to do a "Clean Install" of 6.1, as it was exhibiting setup problems, and wouldn't complete an upgrade either. When I re-booted after removing ZA and logged in, my profile was overwritten as if I had never logged in before. IE needed setup, as did Outlook Express, etc, etc. When I go to \\windows\profiles my old profile folder is still there, with all the desktop shortcuts, etc as they were before, but WinME isn't using them. It hasn't created a new profile folder either that I can see, isn't using the "Default User" profile, looks like it may be defaulting to the "All Users" settings. Any ideas how to get it back to using the existing profile settings? HELP!!! Chris |

System Restore to a point before the botched upgrade. Then go thoroughly
through the steps for ZA at their site. Heirloom, old and almost next year "Chris" wrote in message .. . Just had a very weird thing happen to my WinME system, and I need help to recover. WinME profile problem
Go to the desktop icon that no longer works and click properties. Look at
the path. See if that is where the program is located. I added a DVD player/burner to my computer and it changed my existing CD drive from M: to E:. Whenever I clicked on a desktop icon that used the CD drive I got an error message. When I clicked on properties, I noticed that the computer was being directed to the wrong place. I changed the M to E and everything worked again. |
