Can't access Outlook Express Program
I had to uninstall and reinstall Microsoft XP. I have
added all the downloads for Internet Explorer 6, including service pack update. But, when I try to access Outlook Express, I receive 2 mesages: 1) Outlook Express Message Store cannot be located, & 2) MSOE.DLL may not be initialized correctly, and/or Outlook Express may not be installed correctly. I already put the XP CD-R back in the "ADD/Remove Programs" amd clicked on repair Microsoft Office, but that didn't work. I additionally have all the settings for my Outlook Express account set correctly. Internet Explorer works fine. Does anyone have any ideas about what I can do to access my Outlook Express account? |

Can't access Outlook Express Program
Some comments:
The purpose of this newsgroup is to try and help those running the Win Me operating system. Microsoft Office has nothing to do with Outlook Express which is a different program from Outlook which is part of Office. You say you uninstalled and then reinstalled XP. Why and to what did you return? Win Me? Your problems could well be the result of having a mish mash of different file versions as a result of uninstalling XP and then reinstalling if by reinstalling you mean you upgraded to XP from a previous system to which you have returned having earlier uninstalled XP. Other possible reasons include: The message store files being set to read only (which can happen if restored from a CDR backup). See MS KB 238656 - "OLEXP: Err Msg: "This Program Has Performed an Illegal Operation and Will Be Shut Down"" (http://support.microsoft.com?kbid=238656). Your Outlook Express Identities key is damaged. See MS KB 310894 - "Error 0x800ccd01 Occurs When You Start Outlook Express" (http://support.microsoft.com?kbid=310894). -- Mike Maltby MS-MVP Jake wrote: I had to uninstall and reinstall Microsoft XP.
