Is there any way to change my user profile name in Windows ME without
creating a new user?

TIA

Try http://billsway.com/vbspage/
and look for the 'Change Registered Owner and/or Organization' VBS tool.
(Sixth down the VBS list)

Hi SGB, - Hmm.. I did wonder the moment I pressed Send whether you really
meant Profile as most requests are for ownership changes g

To be honest - I don't know. I've never gone down the 'multiple user' route
except to find that it was a PITA for my particular circumstances. The only
suggestion I can offer is that you set an SR point before you try - that way
you can always get back again!

I know you said that you didn't want to create a new user, but can't you
just copy the existing one and give it a new name, then delete the old one?
But as I said, I haven't really played with multiple users. Sorry if I've
given you a bum steer.

Mart

SGB, perhaps this may point you more in the direction you need :-

How to Disable and Delete User Profiles
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/156826/en-us

But again, SR or even scanreg /restore seem to be essential tools g

I tried your suggestions, Mart. They didn't work. It's okay though. Thanks
for trying to help though. :-) I sure do appreciate it. if you come up with
any other ideas, I'm game.
The thing is my name has changed, so I want to change it in my system
without reinstalling all my software programs and such.
Ah... the bittersweet world of life and computers.

Don't you just delete and recreate your profile name in Windows?
There are no strings atttached as far as I know.
Unless I should be mistaken and in that case I stand corrected.
Meanwhile why not try it?

Harry.

When I created a new a new user, I had to reinstall software, reset
configurations and such.
