Default win ME wont boot up

Hi...
can someone help me Please .My brother give me a computer for my daughter,
it worked fine... untill we put "Labels Unlimited 2" onto it and attached my
"HP Scanner" to it. Now when it boots up it will get to "WinMe" (as if its
gonna start) the screen goes blank with the little line at the top (like its
ready for u to type) the little line goes away, comes back, then goes and the
screen remains blank... then it comes up on "safe mode", but it wont let me
restore the computer to an earler date (although it asks if i want to do
that) if i try to restore it just boots up like the above, and when "safe
mode" comes up , it was unable to restore at this time (or something like
that) prob due to "WinMe" wont load. can anyone help me Please.
I dont have any cds or floppys with it,but have me boot floppy from my old
computer but i wouldnt know how to use it anyway?

I think it was the "LU2" that done something... as when loading it said it
needed something else to run properly , so i clicked ok (as its not connected
to the internet) so it would take from the LU2 cd.
can anybody help me please!

Liz

As System Restore isn't working, you *might* get away with it using the
scanreg /restore ploy. You could try reverting to the last 'good' registry
prior to the problem happening, to see if that will bring things back again.

Although it is possible do this in Normal and Safe Mode, under the
circumstances I would suggest you do it in Real Mode DOS, using your WinMe
Startup (floppy) Disk.

.. but have me boot floppy from my old computer but
i wouldnt know how to use it anyway?

If you are sure that is a WinMe Startup (floppy) Disk then you should use
it, if not go to http://www.bootdisk.com/bootdisk.htm and download the WinMe
OEM option to your hard disk. Run it from your hard disk - with a fresh
floppy disk in your A: drive - to create a WinMe Startup (floppy) Disk.

Now try booting with your Windows Startup (floppy) Disk already inserted in
the A: drive, and choose option 4) Minimal Boot.

At the A:\ prompt, type "scanreg /restore" (no quotes and note the space
between the g and /) then press Enter.

Follow the screen prompts and when asked, select the LAST 'good' date BEFORE
THE PROBLEM, continuing with the instructions.

Don't forget to remove the floppy disk BEFORE you tell the machine to
reboot.

Hopefully, that should get things working again

Boot the computer into Safe Mode.

Then use Start - Run and enter the following command in the dialog
box:

SCANREGW /RESTORE

Choose the most recent registry backup that is prior to your
installing of "Labels Unlimited 2".

Good luck
