Last utorrent version to run on win98SE ?

Last utorrent version to run on win98SE ?

Old laptop. The newest one does not run at all.
I remember using it years ago on win98, so there must be a compatible
version.

I use 1.8.1.

You can try some of the newer versions but there's no point,
really. (Yes, I know, there ARE a few semi-useful additions but
most will not work on pre-XP systems).

You can try some of the newer versions but there's no point,

I have noticed recently that site is not being exactly, shall we
say, kept up to date... Not to mention it was never THAT
complete.

If you want 1.8.1 I can post it somewhere.

You could upload it to oldversion. If I find that one of my
newer versions work, I'll offer them too.
I did try oldversion, and the 1.77 version works, but crashes,
under some conditions, corrupting the download. This was fixed in
version 1.80, according to the changelog.
I have found version 1.82, 1.83 and 1.84 on some old backups I
have. Will try them on the laptop as soon as the OP lets me.

Don't you have a virus scanner of your own? And uTorrent has
NEVER had any malware.

(I just DL'd and scanned it with the May 14 2010 version of ESET
NOD 32. It's clean.)

Don't you have a virus scanner of your own? And uTorrent has

I have two installed on my computer. One is Avira, running in
memory, other is clamwin, for right-click scanning.
But:
www.virustotal.com (offline ATM) has 41 antiviruses,
http://virusscan.jotti.org has 14 (+-). They keep them absolutely up
to date.

I had some real bad problems with a USB virus last year. I
submitted samples to AVG (detected it after 2 days) and Avast (took a
month to detect it). So I quarantine anything for at least a week IF
downloaded from untrusted site, then run it under virustotal.com
before installing. Took me 8 hours to manually remove that $^&$^$ USB
virus from my computer.
