Default graduation gift - change license owner

My brother has given my son an IBM ThinkPad as a going to college/HS
gradutation gift. I am cleaning the system before I present it to him.

Is there a way, aside from reloading ME to change to whom this is
registered? Which is now my son.

Thanks in advance for your assistance.

You can change in manually in Regedit or follow the procedure below:

Make up a file from the lines below. Copy into a file called fix.reg
which should be created in Notepad. Do not retype, copy in case of
errors. The 1st line in the file is the line REGEDIT4
Make sure your mail or news reader does not add any spaces to the end
of a line.
The last line must be blank.
Change "whatever" to the name you want
Change "Private" to your organization
(keep the quotes)
Doubleclick to merge it in the Registry.

-----copy below this line fix.reg------------
REGEDIT4

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion]
"RegisteredOwner"="whatever"
"RegisteredOrganization"="Private"

---- end file above here
