Default cannot read downloaded file

The problem is the Hotmail attachments of type pps or wmv, download starts
slowly for 3 seconds but instead of continuing for the next 5 minutes, as it
should be as an exemple, it goes to the end immediately and the message comes
up : "cannot read..." The problem occured when i received a corrupted
attachement which was id and deleted but cannot reset my applications to read
diaporamas nor movies. I deleted the temp files, cookies, run virus scan
from secuser, reinstalled office 97, wmp version 9 and flash 7.
Old stored diapos and movy trailers directly from wmp work fine but videos
from some web pages don't work. I'm desperate, please help.
