defragmenting C drive
Would anyone know why I can't defrag my drive? It never
gets thru the "Checking drive for errors..." stage. Please help. Thx, Lindsay |

Thx, Lindsay Hi, Boot into safe mode--press F8 at boot(right away, before the Windows logo) and select safe mode from the Startup Menu. Disable any screen savers and run scan disk and then defrag while in safe mode. Both scan disk and defrag don't run properly while other things are running in the background. If your screen saver kicks in it will also cause them to continually restart. There are two possibilities - either you've got a disk problem, or there is
a disk write during the defrag process. - Shut down computer - Disconnect all connections to the Internet, USB connectors, Ethernet, printers - Boot computer to boot menu (press F8) - select Safe Mode Command Prompt, then run scandisk from the Command prompt. - When done, go to Windows, then select run Scandisk (Start PF Accessories System Scandisk) - Run Defrag And let us know how it works out, man!
