Video Problem
I installed an Nvidia Vanta video card in place of a Creative Graphics
Blaster (I was troubleshooting a different computer at the time). I since have put the AGP Creative card back in and now when I boot it says there's new hardware (a PCI card-argh!) and will look for drivers for it, etc.. I cancel and try to run the Creative Install program and it says I don't have a card installed. Sheesh, all I get is 480x640! Also when I boot it shows the Nvidia Vanta BIOS load then the Abit BH6 BIOS. I believe that before when it booted it used to run the Creative BIOS then Abit BIOS. I have updated the motherboard BIOS, reformatted and re-installed Win98, but still get that error. I'd like to start from scratch but don't know where to begin. Should I reset the CMOS? Any suggestions? My system (!6 yrs old) consists of; Abit BH6 v1.02 (BIOS version SS) WD 10GB Caviar 128MB SDRAM Creative Graphics Blaster Riva TNT Sound Blaster Live Value Also, where can one find a valid reference to the old Creative Graphics Blaster Riva TNT? Everything I look at seems to refer to a TNT2, or try Nvidia drivers, BIOS, etc. Nothing makes sense to me yet. Thanks, John |

BTW, isn't the video BIOS seen on the screen first before the mb BIOS what is read from the video card itself? If that's true it must be coming from somewhere else. The PCI card is out and the AGP card is in, unless I totally hosed the Riva TNT cards BIOS. ??? Still fishing... |

You're unclear as to whether you're using an AGP slot or a PCI slot for a
graphics card, and also unclear as to whether or not you have an onboard graphics chipset, on that motherboard, and which should of course be switched off in bios because you have an AGP or PCI graphics card plugged in. regards, Richard "JWC" wrote in message ... Thanks, John I run that MB at work.......its good, no int graphics.......remove the video driver by changing the adapter to Standard VGA, reboot, when windows says its found the card, click cancel on install the drivers, then run the Video driver EXE and reboot......should be fine........
