Default graphics driver problem

I have WinME with a EliteGroup ECS K7VMM+ motherboard
with S3 Graphics ProSavageDDR graphics chips.
When I changed my hard drives around, it seems as if the graphics drivers
revert to the default settings, giving me 256 colors and 640x480
resoluition.
I reset my settings to 16 million colors and 1024 x 768, but doing so causes
my computer to not display the image on my monitor (ViewSonic 770).
This was working fine before, but not anymore, even after configuring
everything back to the original configuration. I think the problem is with
the plug-n-play config.
Any suggestions.
