I'm beginning to like it here, Shane.
Had no idea Jacqui Smith was sooo popular overseas,
(believe there's something wrong with my spielchuecker too, must be an
epidermic).
Keep up the good works... H.

Actually, I'm open to suggestions: I still haven't written to Jacqui Smith
to arrange an appointment, in the event of their becoming Law, to insert
my ID card in her. It has to be worded precisely. I mean, I wouldn't want
to end up in Paddington Green (though I probably will for having mentioned
the location).

Having served in the National Guard myself, I believe the claims against
Bush's service record are dubious. The media would have fun with my service
record; but there is nothing wrong in it.

The idiots that have 'governed' the UK for the past 30 years have been
little more than glove-puppets for the US administration, and had almost no
concept of the idea of independence.

That is the U.K.'s problem. The people should know how to fix it.

The idea of the UK as the 51st)or is it now 52nd?) state ...

Hard to say. I'd suspect that Puerto Rico has the best claim to be 51st, and
American Samoa as 52nd.

big O' than 'the burning Bush' as a potential leader of 'the Western World'
(please note the careful use of quotes and capitals!)

I'd pack his bags and send him over to any other country that would have
him, if I could. You definitely can have him. I'd rather have someone not so
big on Big Government, myself.

I'm a firm believer in minimalist government - but governments by nature
will always attempt to govern the maximum they can. At some point the
ability of the governments to control what they are attempting to govern
breaks down - and the result is chaos. The recent carnage in the banking
system worldwide is a good example of this, in that the US (with the largest
deficit in the world) decided that unfettered credit was 'A Good Thing' - at
least until it ran out - and the UK then decided that it couldn't be left
behind in the lemming-race over the cliff. The 'Economic Miracle-worker' who
made that decision is now making similar decisions over the use of what
little nuclear deterrence the UK still possesses..... I doubt that anyone
except the poor b%st$rds who actually have their fingers on the buttons
really realise what that could mean!

Having had my "finger on that button", I do understand that part of your
ramble. (It wasn't really a button, and I needed more than one single finger
to release it; it was more like two fingers, and two thumbs. Not all of them
mine.)

Our Ministers are akin to the types who deny Evolution. By which I mean
they're just trotting out the same old attitudes and logic that has led to
every dictatorship the race has ever known. While almost everyone would vote
in the next National Socialist criminal gang - because that's what people do
when confronted by perceived (legitimate) authority figures - people like
Smith would attain a position of power within it (and not in order to fight
them). She would swear that this is nonsense - but that is because she was
only born yesterday (a hundred years ago yesterday).

While I have little or no respect for those prepared to kill a) because
someone else orders them too and b) someone defined as 'the enemy' or (more
likely in recent times, on the idiot watch of the likes of Blair and Bush,
and now 'Brown The Unelected') 'evil' because not only a politician says to
but a politician who's a big enough liar and scoundrel to get to the top of
the greasy pole, I do have a varying degree of respect for those who fight
for freedom - even if they fail to understand, when they have, that they've
been misled. They mean well.

When it comes to those with ambitions for power - particularly dynastys -
despite appalling ethical failings, which are pretty-much implicit in the
type - I respect JFK. I respect Ike. I respect Churchill. I spit on Bush.

I doubt there is anything amiss in your serving in the National Guard - or
did your daddy keep you out of the fighting too?

It is rather I suspect a problem with the electorate - the same kind we have
here - that i) looks the other way while the Presidency is stolen by a
loophole, presumably because about 40% of it are all for theft if they get
the presumed kickback and ii) the friends of Uncle Charlie get to the White
House while little people are still going to prison for cannabis possession.

Obama, on the other hand, while he is a politician devious enough to be
where he is, appears to have some integrity and is certainly not an idiot;
but the main thing about his election is what it says about the American
people, who have had the guts to elect a man of color (sic). Whatever
happens in the new administration and whatever the more cynical might
attribute it to, the flame of hope still flickers. For the past decade it
was all but extinguished.

And thank foch Sarah Palin isn't a heart attack away from the bat phone!

I am amazed at your insight towards our affairs, including your own as
understood, Shane.
There definitely aren't many people capable of such a feat and fortunately
you are one of them. Hopefully this inspires a few more to read and take
heed.
Thank you for the contribution.

Harry.

That's not my style at all. The location of my ISP is entirely
different from my own, which is roughly 50 miles west of Philly and
placing you due north.

Does that mean you live in a treehouse? Its a long time ago now but I seem
to recall that's where the Pennsylvania People live, isn't it? And the top
lifts up?

Not really, but wouldn't be so bad either at present circumstances g

You've got that right!

I understand you plan to open up a Best Buy in 2010, if the price is
right (supposedly property values are falling rapidly right now)?

I am not quite sure what you mean by this???? We have loads of Best Buy
stores up here in Canada. In fact they bought out a huge electronics
chain called Future Shop, which just might be their undoing.

Perhaps you could enlighten me about what they are purchasing, etc.

Didn't mean to leave you hang with this, but my reference was to a
particular region near you, Quebec if I'm not mistaken, where they planned
on opening a store. It was mentioned only once in the news on my screen.
Not all that important either, since you already have so many of them.
Their stores with merchandise and prices are good, without question.
Now I have to get back to the chicken...witch is not really true, but usable
as an excuse. H.

Are you flaming nuts?? You Americans started this world crisis and we
are in far better shape financially (as a country) than you are. We have
what are called "checks and balances" on the financial markets and the
banks. And I am damn glad we do.

Has nothing to do with what I am, Figgs, I was just quoting news about
Best Buys holding off on that purchase in the hope that prices in
properties will go lower.
Negotiations must be pending. And where the financial crisis is
concerned, it seems to be a world wide affair where the Brits and others
have just as big a stake in it as we Americans do. You may have a
somewhat better position nationally, but on a broader scale you are no
better off than we are, since you are closely tied to us (with Mexico
closer than any other country), because of the impending unification
(like it or not!).

Some 30 years ago, while I was working in property law, they tried out
these sort of subprime mortgages. At renewal time, people just put
their keys on the kitchen table and walked out. We have NEVER allowed
anything quite so idiotic since.

You deserve an A for effort in that regard!

Grumbling......Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae......stupid bloody names for
crooked mortgage companies....grumble. (G)

Your anger is shared by many Americans , be assured, but that doesn't
change anything, many also still love their capitalism, no matter how
detrimental.

Cheer up, there are better days ahead, if you can believe it.

I just checked with my secret decoder ring and your ISP is in
Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.......

IOW, you are due south and west of me. Not near the coast at all.
Unless you are counting Lake Erie.....lol.

Now go wash your mouth out with Sunlight soap for fibbing!!!

OH......well, first of all Quebec is a good 7 hour drive from Toronto.
I could probably make it to your house in the same time span (G).

And I was trying to remember what hooha was going on in Quebec with
regard to a store and I believe that Walmart employees (ptui, hate
Walmart) wanted to form a union (ptui, hate unions), so Walmart fired
them all. Or shut down the store, which would have the same effect on
hourly employees.

One Yank company that doesn't do well up here is those god-awful Krispy
Kreme things.....YUCK!! We will stick to Tim Horton's and ignore those.
I do believe they have shut down their Cdn. stores. KK, I mean.

Off to make a Jamaican fish dinner.....beats an imaginary chicken any
day, LOL!!

Heather
