can't install win98se
I agree with you Jake it,s all new and
has ro work!!! I would find a working machine and use my disk to make a start up floppy, then make sure it booted that machine, the go home and try it. Never sis mention the Hd or what has been done to it to set it up, did add 512 Mg Ram ??? 256 should load and run basic Win98-SE with no problem. Return it all to the vender and try again. -----Original Message----- Okies, if all is brandnew it should work! Turn it in with the vendor and claim another one. Good luck! It's brand new. My motherboard is also brand new. -----Original Message----- If you selected a bootdisk at bootdisk.com, that matches your system, the you would be able to boot to dos. If you cant do that there is something with your hardware. -- Windows98 links to solutions http://jake98.no-ip.info Replies in the same thread please Regards Jake . |

I tried to create a new startup disk using the win98se cd but this computer I'm using has xp and it wouldn't let me browse the win98 cd. I need help. For a new Win98 Startup diskette with CDrom support: Run the Fat32ebd.exe file located on the Win98 CD in the Tools/Mtsutil/Fat32ebd directory. This should work on any Windows machine and it does not create a Ram Drive. It should create the diskette directly and not get involved with the XP system. Use it to boot the Win9x machine only. This diskette does not include the Extract utility or several Dos utilities but it's good for installing Windows. Regards, Bill Watt Computer Help and Information http://home.epix.net/~bwatt/ |

Run Fdisk first after format c: /s command. Make boot disk from pc running win98 not CD. Gud luck |
