How do you install a graphics driver?
I downloaded a file from

http://downloadfinder.intel.com/scri...stems&lang=eng

which was zipped. Presumably you unzip the file, but then what?

Can anybody can help with this one?

Carole

In case no one else responds, I can you what I have to do with my
Leadtek/NVIDIA drivers. If the file is zipped, then unzip it noting exactly
where it is being unzipped to. (For ease later, ensure that the folder you
choose is either a new one or has nothing else in it). Disconnect from the
Internet and then disable your virus protection. Next go to the Control
Panel and check to see if there are any old graphics drivers installed. If
there are then remove them. When you have deleted all the old information,
use Windows Explorer to find the folder where your stored all the unzipped
files from above and look for the file ending in .exe. The prefix should
have a label similar to the downloaded name or the name shown on the
download page. Once the exe file is running, then follow the instructions on
the screen.

1. That download is a self-extracting archive in EXE format. You run that
EXE and it prompts you to extract the files to your TEMP folder. Don't do
that. Instead, type in a new path, say C:\GFX. Something that is easy to
find *and* is a new folder.

2. When the extraction is finished, close the dialogue and then go find that
new folder (C:\GFX in my example) in Windows Explorer. Double-click
SETUP.EXE. Follow instructions. When you're finishes, and have restrarted
and everything is running OK, you can go ahead and delete that folder.

In the event you do not see a file ending with EXE, look for a file ending
in INF. In Windows Explorer, right-click on the INF file and chose
"install".

However, the best bet might be to look around the same website from which
you got the file. They often include instructions on exactly what to do.
Try FAQs. Or, after unzipping, look for a README.TXT file or similar.

Depends if its applicable both to your hardware, and windows 98 operating
system. You may not want to do anything.

If it's an nVidia Driver download, you may want to disable any AV/FW, and
accelerator programs before the download. If you dont have the luxury of a
disk, go right to the nVidia site for their download The site is easy to
follow. There's a cool little overclocking program called Coolbits that can
be added in a heart beat.

Sorry that I don't have much data on ATI (for obvious reasons).

Peace,
gj

Define/explain your info..... Exactly 'what' does Coolbits do.....
please Xplain to o/p and its relevance that you should mention it.

Too much info with no 'info'.
also, 'define' ATI?
do you expect o/p to have a clue what you are talking about?
Peace,
gj

'piece' things together properly, then we'll all get some 'peace'.

Thanks for all the help.
Actually it was a funny thing, not just one driver but a setup wizard
did the install.
When I downloaded the file from the intel website I had to unzip it. It
took me a while to work out what to do but there was a setup wizard
which I just clicked on and it installed itself.

Everything working ok now. Thanks.
