Will Windows ME Replace I.E 6.0?

Can anyone tell me if when upgrading to Windows ME from
Windows 98 via a download from Micrsoft, will Win ME
replace I.E. 6.0,SP1 with the earlier I.E. 5.5 or will it
reconise I.E. 6.0 as a higher version and leave it alone ?
I need this information before I upgrade to Windows ME as
my PC does not have the speed, Hard Drive Space or mmemory
to run Windows XP Home Edition.

You need to uninstall IE6 before upgrading since, as you suspect, Win Me
will try and install IE5.5 on upgrading. If you don't uninstall IE6 you
will have a bit of a version soup and be destined to have problems. Once
you have got Win Me installed you can then reinstall IE6 SP1. You will
also need to uninstall Windows Media Player 9 if you have this installed
as Win Me will install WMP7. Again you can upgrade to WMP9 once you have
Win Me running OK.
