I would like to put "dibs" on any spare computers you want to throw this
way.....8-)) Or on the other hand.....I would be willing to clean your flat for airfare and food.....that ought to scare you into doing it, lol. Heather "Mike M" wrote in message ... after two moves in the past 6 months!)g Given the state of this flat at the moment I'm surprised I find anything including my bed or the loo so perhaps I ought to think about moving as if nothing else I might get rid of some of my junk. :-) Cheers, -- Mike Noel Paton wrote: FWIW, I actually bought my ME upgrade off-the-shelf...... and got not a lot more (and pick your unfavourite deity alone knows where it is now, after two moves in the past 6 months!)g |

-----Original Message----- Ron, See CLEANHD.TXT which is in the Win 9x folder on the Win Me CD and also as KB271673 - "Windows Millennium Edition Cleanhd.txt File Contents" (http://support.microsoft.com?kbid=271673). The penultimate paragraph of Cleanhd.txt states: "4. snip If you have the Windows Me Upgrade product, you must insert a CD or floppy disk from a previous version of Windows. The instructions will tell you when to insert the Windows Me CD back into the drive." Both Noel and myself could have told you this if you had asked. This question is frequently asked in these newsgroups. -- Mike Maltby MS-MVP Ron wrote: With regards to specifics, I am referencing "Digital Dave's Tip" in the February 26, 2001 issue of ComputorEdge and I quote "...Microsoft...put instructions in the manual that comes with WinMe on how to do a clean disk install using the upgrade version." You can understand the savings in time if I could accomplish this directly from the Upgrade disk, hence my inquiry. Appreciate your taking the time to read my Post and Reply. . Mike, Can you tell me if this same protocol would work with the Windows 98SE Upgrade disk utilizing the appropriate boot disk? Any Windows OS Upgrade disk? Ron |

Yup - although the original disks MUST be MS-type (i.e. not 'Recovery'
disks) in order for the upgrader to recognise the OS. Otherwise, you'll have to reinstall the original OS first, and then upgrade -- Noel Paton (MS-MVP 2002-2004, Win9x) Nil Carborundum Illegitemi http://www.btinternet.com/~winnoel/millsrpch.htm http://tinyurl.com/6oztj Please read http://dts-l.org/goodpost.htm on how to post messages to NG's "Ron" wrote in message ... -----Original Message----- Ron, See CLEANHD.TXT which is in the Win 9x folder on the Win Me CD and also as KB271673 - "Windows Millennium Edition Cleanhd.txt File Contents" (http://support.microsoft.com?kbid=271673).
